A college student at a recent college football game challenged a senior citizen sitting next to him, saying it was impossible for their generation to understand this:

"You grew up in a different world," the student said, loud enough for the whole crowd to hear. "Today we have television, jet planes, space travel, man has walked on the Moon, our spaceships have visited Mars, we even have nuclear energy, electric and hydrogen cars, computers with light-speed processing ... and uh ....."

Taking advantage of a pause in the student's litany, the senior citizen said, "You're right. We didn't have those things when we were young; so we invented them, you little twit! What are *you* doing for the next generation???"

I didn't think this was a laugh out loud type joke, but an insightful truth. For me, this got me to think on what my generation (gen x) really has done for the next gen.? Overall this was good.

So true- isn't it the older generations that invented what they didn't have for the present? Very good, tho not exactly, as was said, a laugh out loud joke, but still very true!

I agree that it is not LOL funny. Not really funny at all. It is definitely a scary truth.

Well, Keep in mind that it takes the tools to make the tools that make the tools that make the tools. And it's a never ending concept. There is always a revolutionary period, then a 'fine tuning' period. Generation X are the fine tuners. Look at the industrial revolution... turned out vehicles... which later focused the world on electronics and communication.. which focused on the radio... then movies... then tv... then computers.. then the internet... then now.
