UNITED NATIONS (AP) — U.N. officials and diplomats say the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court will seek an arrest warrant Monday charging Sudan's president with crimes against humanity and genocide in Darfur.

The court based in The Hague, Netherlands, said the prosecutor will present evidence of the war crimes in Darfur to judges Monday and one or more new suspects will be named. But court officials refused Friday to identify any of the potential new suspects.

The U.N. officials and diplomats said they expect lesser charges of helping orchestrate genocide and participating in crimes against humanity to be brought against Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Mohammed Taha. They spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

A spokesman for Sudan's president dismissed the investigation and said his government refuses to hand over any suspects.

• 1.85 million people are displaced within Darfur (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs)

• 15,000 people die each month (International Coalition for Justice)

• More than 20% of children under five years old are suffering from severe malnutrition and many are dying each day (UN World Food Program)

• Only 50% of persons in need are receiving food assistance (UN World Food Program)

• In March 2005, UN Undersecretary-General Jan Egeland, warned that as many as 3 to 4 million people could need food aid in the coming months.

• In April 2005, the World Food Program announced that a drastic funding shortfall would force them to cut food rations by one-half for one million Darfurians.

This is just sickening, are school did a charity to help put an end to this and finally the president of sudan may be charged for war crimes.

It's just terrible, their own government is killing kids, and their own people. It's so terrible that this is happening in our world.

I am glad that finally their doing something about it, and actually saying that it's happening. This is genocide and it is very wrong.
